The largest island in Thailand, Koh Phuket is separated from the mainland by a narrow bridged strait. The island's west and south coastlines are liberally sprinkled with beaches, many of them long, curving arcs of golden sand with mounds of boulders separating them from the neighbouring beaches.
Koh Phuket is the largest dive centre in Thailand and the main base for live-aboard heading for destinations in the Andaman Sea. Boats are also kept busy ferrying divers backwards and forwards to the local dive sites around Phuket. There are very good dive sites around the immediate coastline of Phuket Island itself. The reefs are generally in a healthy condition with good hard corals as well as colourful soft corals. Marine life is plentiful, with visits from large pelagic sometimes adding spice to the diving, Some sites are quite deep with ripping currents often present, but there are plenty of other locations suitable for all levels of diver.

FLYING
Phuket is served by it's own airport. Thai Airways have several flights a day from Bangkok to Phuket. International direct flights are also available.
BUS
First Class air-conditioned buses leave from Bangkok's southern bus terminal at 7 PM. VIP buses leave at 5-30 PM and 6 PM. There are also 6 ordinary buses each day from 6 AM until 6-30 PM
