Thailand Dive Site - Mu Koh Surin |

Location : Off Khuraburi, On Thailand’s west coast, and 14 Km. (7.5n. miles) east of Mu Koh Surin.
Access :
The rock can be reached in about 3 hr from Khuraburi pier and in just
over 1hr from Koh Surin Nua. There are permanent mooring buoys the
Pinnacles are visible only at low tide, which makes it a hazaed to
shipping.
Condition : As the rock is in open seas there can be very strong currents. Visibility ranger from 5m. (16ft) to beyond 30m. (100ft).
Average depth : 19m. (63ft).
Maximum depth :45m. (147ft).
This is among the world’s top listed locations for sighting whale
Sharks. One of Thailand’s best sites, this is a wall dive around the
main outcrop, which is surrounded by smaller submerged pinnacles whos
peaks rang from 3m. (10ft) to 10m (33ft) below the surface. The
pinnacles have numerous shevlves and ledges at all depths, nith murene,
shrimp-species hiding all over the place

Location : 40km. (22n.miles) South of Koh Sarin Tai.
Access :
Koh Tachai is about 2 hr. from Koh Surin Tai. The entry point lies
200m. (220yd) due south of the island’s southern most point. There are
no outcrops to mark this location : mooring buoys are present.
Condition : The current runs weak to moderate. Visibility ranges from 9m. (30ft)
to above 30m. (100ft)
Average depth : 22m. (73ft).
Maximum depth :30m (100ft)
This site is divided into three reefs. Each dominating a different
depth with different structures and reef inhabitants. If you want s
single-depth dive, the optimum position is slightly above the inner
pinnacle in the site’s average depth of 22m (73ft). Off the island’s
southern point, two submerged pinnacles stand pround of many large
boulders and rocks, providing great swim throughs.

Location : Off the southwestern end of Koh Bon
Access : The entry point is at the southwest tip of the limestone cliffs; otherwise,
a “live-boat” dive is recommended
Condition : Visibility is good , often reaching 30m. (100ft) in sheltered areas. Currents can run quite rapidly.
Average depth : 21m. (70ft)
Maximum depth : 40m. (130ft)
The reef bottoms at 32m. (160ft) the sharply drops to 40m. (130ft) to
reach gently sloping sand. Huge sponges can be tound in depths of
30-40m. (100-130ft). Beneath the entry point the rocks are carpeted
with golden star corals and the island’s perimeter takes the form of a
wall covered with sea anemones and encrusting sponges. There are
octopus, resting cuttlefish, and Coral Trout. On closer inspection a
variety of Cleaner Shrimps are apparent tending to their hosts at
cleaning stations. To the southwest your can follow a splendid reef
covered in corals teeming with marin life, mantas, whitetip, sharks.
